Looking to start an orchard in a warmer climate? Hood pears are a great way to start, thanks to the low chill hour requirements. White blooms emerge in the spring, followed by large fruit that ripens in the summer. The pears are greenish-yellow, crisp, and are great for fresh eating or canning.

  • Ripens in mid- to late July
  • Bears fruit in 4–7 years
  • Needs only 100–200 chill hours
  • Is partially self-fertile, but cross-pollination with Baldwin, Flordahome or Pineapple will ensure a larger crop
  • Will be delivered at a height of 1'–3'
