We will ship your trees when conditions are suitable for your area, depending on local climates and this year’s weather. Bare root trees are shipped twice a year during fall and spring seasons. While it may vary by item and hardiness zone, most of our potted trees ship year-round. To learn more, see our shipping schedule.

For the most up-to-date information about your order, check out our Order Status Tool. Please note: some items in your order may ship at different times. This tool will help you keep track of every item in your order.

You may consider pre-digging your hole before your trees arrive. This will ensure quick transport into your trees new home, where it can begin to establish its roots. While immediate planting is ideal, we recommend planting your trees within 5 days of arrival. To learn more about tree planting, see our planting guide.

Guaranteed Healthy Delivery

When you order trees from The Arbor Day Foundation, your order is guaranteed to arrive in a good, healthy condition or we’ll replace them at no charge. Your trees will be shipped at a suitable time for planting. Each tree and plant is guaranteed to grow, or we’ll replace it within one year of shipment.

The Arbor Day Foundation is happy to provide a one-time refund or replacement per order under the following term and conditions:

Our trees and shrubs are living things. They need planted at the correct depth, watered and cared for in a way that is favorable to the plant’s health, and protected from the elements and animals.

We’re here to help, if you ever have any questions, please feel free to call or email us. We want to provide you with as many resources as possible to achieve successful planting and growth of your trees and shrubs.

However, to initiate your one-time free replacement or refund, please contact us by email [email protected]. The Arbor Day Foundation unfortunately cannot fulfill any refund or replacement requests without the proper images or documentation that supports the claim.

Free items not included.

Trees sent to planting locations outside the recommended horticulture zones will not be guaranteed.

Once your order has been sent to our nursery location for processing, it cannot be cancelled. You can, however, refuse the order upon delivery. When you take this action, you will be refunded the cost of the trees but not the associated shipping fees. The only exception to this is if there is an error in the shipment (i.e., the wrong trees were shipped or the trees were dead on arrival). Your tree nursery order refund will be processed once the nursery package has been shipped back and received by the nursery.
